The number one issue is to increase profits and, thereby, increase shareholder benefits.
I will encourage the aggressive pursuit of government contracting opportunities. However, I believe it is in Goldbelt’s interest to broaden our reach, and in particular, broaden geographically. Presently, the majority of our activities are on the East Coast, while the great majority of our shareholders live in Alaska and on the West Coast.
I also feel very strongly that we need to diversify beyond the 8(a) program. With my experience in both the government and the private sectors, I am uniquely qualified to help Goldbelt assess and capture higher return opportunities.
Alaska and West Coast business diversification will be a priority for me as a Goldbelt Director.
I also feel the recent increase in the fee paid to Board Members is excessive and unwarranted. I will work to bring the fees within reason and ensure that directors from outside Alaska do not cause any additional burden. That starts with my pledge to provide 20% of my stipend toward a scholarship in my mother’s name, Amelia Cesar McClure.
Further, it is important that we recognize that not all of our young shareholders will go to college. Support to vocational training and apprenticeships is a must.
I will make it my mission to ensure that we adhere to the highest ethical standards, and embrace diversity and inclusion. The Board should be second to none in setting and practicing such policies. As a director I will support the training and changes we may need in these areas to ensure Goldbelt is a world-class organization.
